Thank you for visiting my blog!
I went back and forth on the decision to start this blog because I have failed doing one in the past. I thought I would be able to always think of something cool to talk about and that I would have ample time to sit down and type. Neither of those things were true. I was pretty cautious about sharing my life on paper. Even though some of the everyday life stuff we do provides more than enough to write about, the thought of being so open with others can be scary.
With time, comes growth. I'm excited to start this blog and allow it to be a way to stay connected with friends and family - all while shining a light on what God's showing me. I believe this is going to be fun and I'm thrilled about the opportunity to get started!
A little about my background because I think it will help add perspective to my way of thinking. I'm was born in Columbia, SC and spent the majority of my adolescence there. I went to three elementary schools - W. S. Sandel Elementary, Harbison West Elementary, and Hickory Hills Elementary (in Marietta, GA); two middle schools - Marietta Sixth Grade Academy (in Marietta, GA) and E. L. Wright Middle School; and one high school - Spring Valley High School. I was bullied a lot in school for being tall, skinny, and a 'teacher's pet'. The best thing that could have happened in my life happened in 2007. That's when I was a part of a program called Youth Corps. It's a youth leadership development program with nine magnificent modules that changed the trajectory of my life!
I believe I really started to understand myself when I started college at Winthrop University. I'll write a full blog about my time at WU soon because it would be my error to leave out the fact that I was afforded many leadership opportunities and met lifelong friends at my alma mater.
I've always felt greatly compelled to challenge myself. That's a significant reason this blog has started. I'm going to challenge myself to share my experiences as I live this blessing in hopes that this will motivate at least one other person to let God's light shine and live their best life! (Got that one from Oprah!)
Stay with me! I may bounce around and make typos but I'm human! It will all come full circle :) *hopefully!
Talk to you later!
Daisy!
