Kwanzaa 2023 Reflection: Ujamaa

Today is Day 4 of Kwanzaa and our principle of the day is Ujamaa, cooperative economics.

I am so proud of the numerous people who have ventured out to start their own businesses! Authors, social media influencers, philanthropists, coaches, marketing gurus, educators, DJs, chefs, storefront owners, business strategists, clothing designers, digital curators, and so much more! That's not easy and yet, they've tried. That effort matters!

It can be scary to flesh out an idea. There are new rules to follow and processes to master. Fortunately, there are resources available to get you started! Whether that is YouTube, TikTok, or an online learning software, we've all got to start somewhere. We can't rule out the invaluable benefit of having a mentor!

In 2024, and in the spirit of Ujamaa, I'm taking the challenge of having more conversations with people about what it is that they hope to achieve. Sometimes, having a non-judgmental listening ear can make a big difference in whether or not someone gives their idea a shot.
