Lego Flower Bouquet Review

Live flowers always makes me smile. There's just something special about the colors and beauty of a well-made floral arrangement. I have been getting into the habit of buying myself flowers and sending flowers to my loved ones - thanks to Shipt.

I remember being 17 years old working as a florist at a Kroger in Columbia, South Carolina. I took a lot of pride in preparing arrangements for my customers. One random summer Saturday in 2009, I arrived at work, put my apron on and started filling the water buckets our flowers sat in. A lady came into the store and walked right up to floral counter during my shift. She told me she was eloping and needed a wedding bouquet. I had never been asked to make a bouquet before and my floral supervisor wasn't scheduled to work that day, so I did what I thought needed to be done. Together, my customer and I picked out a bouquet of rainbow roses. I had some leftover baby's breath and greenery from a previous arrangement and got to work crafting a layered bridal bouquet while the bride-to-be went to pick up a few other items . I remember placing a row of ferns down first. Then a row of four roses - all different colors. Then a row a baby's breath before laying down three more roses a bud below the top layer. Then more baby's breath before three more roses. Next came more baby's breath before the final two roses at the base of the bouquet. I added more fern to fill out the arrangement and snipped the ends of the stems so they were all even. Wrapping the stems with wire took some patience, but eventually held all of the flowers together. Finally, I wrapped the wired stems with white ribbon so the bride-to-be could hold it upright without any issues. When she returned to the counter to pick up her bouquet, she was beaming! She thanked me for my time and skill before heading to the check out counter with her $19.99 bridal bouquet. I don't think I ever told my supervisor about that experience, but it was one of the most rewarding moments of my time as a Kroger employee.

Though my love of live flowers is pretty well known by those closest to me, I was very surprised to be gifted the Lego Flower Bouquet for Christmas 2021. I didn't know Lego made kits, let alone a floral kit with such tiny and intricate pieces. Even though this super thoughtful gift had me very intimidated, I knew I had to at least attempt to assemble it.

Saturday, January 8, 2022 started out as a dreary, rainy day. I stubbed my toe on the bouquet box in my bedroom and decided this was as good of a day as any to put Lego pieces together. I picked up the box and made my way to the kitchen island to get started. There is a lot of natural light shared between my open-concept kitchen and living room. I lit a few candles, put on some Pandora playlist and sat at the island with the box.

The Lego pieces were bagged within the box with black labeling to guide the process. There were so many pieces - 756 according to Lego! I did not expect to do all of the flowers in one sitting but I got really determined when I realized I had gotten more than halfway through. I felt special working on the arrangement and could hardly wait to show the finished product to the person who gave this to me.

The bouquet features daises, roses, snapdragons, poppies, asters and grasses. One of the best things about this bouquet is that several elements were made from a plant-based plastic, produced using sustainably sourced sugarcane. Putting the bouquet together took me about 4 hours.

Here's a short video (less than a minute) of the assembly:

Here's a photo of the finished product:

I don't own any rights to the music in the video. However, I do own the experience shared in this blog. And yes, I used a water bottle from Dollar Tree as my vase, because I can. This was fun! Until next time good people! Enjoy yourselves!
